SPECIALIST ONLINE INTEGRATION THERAPY AND COACHING FOR PSYCHEDELIC EXPERIENCES

ABOUT PAUL

I have spent my career helping people make sense of what feels difficult to explain.

Paul Gibson is a UK psychotherapist, former nurse, and Director of Psychotherapy at Emerge Clinic. For more than 13 years he has worked with people trying to understand complex emotional patterns, difficult histories, and experiences that are not always easy to put into words.

His integration coaching is informed by direct professional work before, during, and after ketamine-assisted psychotherapy sessions. Paul Gibson Integration is a clearly defined coaching service for people who received treatment elsewhere and need grounded support with what followed.

A CAREER BUILT AROUND HELPING PEOPLE UNDERSTAND THEMSELVES

Understanding the person has always come before applying the method.

I have long been interested in why people repeat patterns they want to change, how early experiences influence adult relationships, and how emotional change often feels different from intellectual understanding.

Over the years I have learned that real progress depends on a person’s ability to make sense of what has happened to them — not just in theory, but in a way that can be felt, remembered and carried into everyday life.

My work is informed by many conversations with people trying to make meaning from intense experiences. This is what led me to focus on integration.

The method should fit the person — not the person the method.

WHY INTEGRATION BECAME A NATURAL PART OF MY WORK

Why integration became a natural part of my work

Understanding

Everyday life

Ketamine can create a rapid shift in awareness. People may see themselves and their lives differently. But insight on its own does not equal change.

The medicine may alter awareness. Integration still requires relationship, context, reflection and time.

EXPERIENCE BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER KETAMINE-ASSISTED PSYCHOTHERAPY

Many integration coaches meet someone only after the event. My understanding is informed by repeated professional work across the complete arc of the ketamine process.

WHAT THE WORK HAS TAUGHT ME

1

Intensity is not the same as value.

2

The person remains more important than the medicine.

3

Meaning should not be imposed too quickly.

4

Vulnerability often continues after the session.

5

Insight can disappear without support and context.

6

Not everything needs immediate action.

7

Difficult experiences are not automatically failures.

8

Integration is not endless analysis.

Good integration does not exaggerate the experience. It helps the person understand it in proportion.

PROFESSIONALLY GROUNDED BACKGROUND

Psychotherapy

Thirteen years of psychotherapy experience brings a deep understanding of patterns, emotion and the processes that support lasting change.

Nursing

Clinical training shaped my attention to safety, whole-person care and the importance of accurate information and boundaries.

Ketamine work

Direct work across the full arc of ketamine-assisted psychotherapy informs the specific needs that follow altered-state experiences.

A CLINICAL FOUNDATION

My former nursing experience continues to influence my work today. It brought a strong respect for safety, comfort with complex health presentations, and the ability to work well in multidisciplinary settings.

It also taught me the value of calmness when people are vulnerable, and the importance of accurate reassurance and clear boundaries.

THIRTEEN YEARS OF UNDERSTANDING PATTERNS BENEATH THE SURFACE

In psychotherapy I have worked with people facing trauma, anxiety, depression, attachment difficulties, shame, protective parts, addiction and emotional avoidance.

Over time I have seen how early experiences, protective patterns and relational dynamics continue to shape adult life.

Many people understand their stories intellectually but still feel stuck, confused or overwhelmed. Integration work bridges that gap between insight and change.

WHY THIS WORK MATTERS TO ME

I am fascinated by how people adapt. I am also concerned that people are often left unsupported after powerful treatments.

I believe altered states deserve thoughtful integration rather than either dismissal or exaggeration.

My hope is that integration helps the person live differently — where something useful has emerged.
